A business analyst has to prove following personal skills:
- good communication: by adjusting its communication to his/her recipients (business or technical people) and by being able to maintain/share relevant information throughout the project.
- good relationship building and influencing: by empowering people who have to take actions and influencing decision makers. Also to be able to find a balance between different group's interests.
- good team work and leadership: by understanding colleague's motivation and be able to perform successfully an end-to-end analysis/task.
- political awareness: by understanding high level requirements or strategies (both internal and external).
- problem solving and attention to detail:: by thinking ahead and being able to analyse root cause and bringing the best approach/solution for resolving issues.
- self belief: self-confidence is capital for influencing decisions and broadcast the business analysis.
